Compared to the first season the second feels really poorly paced. Without spoiling anything, it feels like they took a lot of inspiration from GoT; if you like someone, chances are something is going to happen. A lot of what did happen in the season seems very mote and pointless, as within the episode, or start of next episode, something is done to change it. A lot of obvious 'plot armour' happens as well, including really stupid choices or arbitrary choices made by the characters that make very little overall sense. The story also doesn't answer a lot of questions, and even makes less sense when given the story put out by the original movie. The ending of the season also leaves a lot of open-ended questions/answers about the entire plot, including the first season. The viewer either has to just accept that a lot of left unanswered, or expected to come up with batsh-t theories as to what exactly happened with the characters and storyline of the 2nd season. It's not a bad watch if you just want to enjoy some Kaiju anime, but if you cared about the storyline in the 1st season, just bite your lip and try to enjoy it as a lot of things happen with next to zero explanations.
